Oracle could be preparing for another round of layoffs. According to a report, managers have been asked to prepare a list of employees who could be affected before September 1. The date is also raising concern because Oracle workers received layoff emails early in the morning during the company’s March cuts. Some teams could reportedly face double-digit job cuts this time as well.
The latest move comes only months after Oracle removed thousands of jobs in March 2026. The company has been cutting costs while investing more in its cloud and AI business. Oracle spent $55.7 billion on capital projects in its 2026 financial year, with a large share of that spending directed toward data centers and AI. This has made cost control a bigger focus for the company.
The March layoffs eliminated about 21,000 full-time roles, and the employee count fell from about 162,000 in May 2025 to about 141,000 at the end of May 2026. The most concerning part was that the workers in the US and India reportedly received emails from Oracle Leadership at around 6 am. For those affected, the same day was their final working day.
The earlier cuts affected several parts of the company, including Oracle Health, Sales, Cloud, Customer Success, and NetSuite. Oracle had also spent about $1.8 billion of its $2.1 billion restructuring budget during the 2026 financial year.
For employees, the biggest problem is the uncertainty. A normal morning could turn into a difficult day with just one email.
Oracle’s business is still growing. Its revenue rose 17% in FY2026, while cloud infrastructure revenue jumped 77%. However, the company is also spending heavily on AI and data centers.

Oracle has not confirmed the exact number of employees who could lose their jobs. Until the company makes an official announcement, the final impact remains unclear. Still, the reported plans are enough to put many workers on edge.
