India’s National Investment and Infrastructure Fund Limited (NIIF) has appointed former PAG executive Gauravjit Singh as Managing Partner and Global Head of Capital Formation.
Singh will lead fundraising across NIIF’s investment strategies as the sovereign-anchored asset manager seeks to expand its domestic and international institutional investor base.
Singh brings nearly two decades of experience in institutional fundraising across global, India-focused and pan-Asian investment strategies. He most recently served as Head of Investor Relations and Fundraising for PAG’s private equity business in Singapore. Singh also sat on PAG’s Investment and Exit Committees during his tenure at the firm.
Before joining PAG, Singh worked at True North and KKR. At True North, he led investor relations and supported the investment firm as it expanded into private credit and reached new institutional markets in the United States, Europe, the Middle East and North Africa, and Japan.
NIIF said Singh will now focus on existing investor relationships while also seeking new sources of capital.
The appointment follows a period of increased capital raising at NIIF. The asset manager has mobilised about $3 billion in new equity commitments across its investment strategies over the past 24 months.
NIIF manages investment strategies covering infrastructure, private markets, growth equity and climate-related investments.
Sanjiv Aggarwal, Managing Director and CEO of NIIF, said expanding the investor network remains a priority as the asset manager enters its next growth phase. “Deepening our relationships with existing investors, bringing new investors into the NIIF ecosystem and broadening our sources of capital will be important priorities,” Aggarwal said.
NIIF has also raised capital through several large fund closings in 2026. Its Private Markets Fund II secured commitments of up to $750 million at its first close earlier this year. The fund has a target size of $1 billion, while fundraising remains underway.
In August, NIIF announced a Rs. 19,000 crore, or about $2 billion, first close for Infrastructure Fund II. The amount represents more than 60% of the fund’s Rs. 30,000 crore, or roughly $3.2 billion, target. NIIF said the fund received backing from the Government of India, sovereign wealth funds, pension funds, insurance companies and Indian financial institutions.
Singh said India has become an important market for global institutional investors seeking long-term investment opportunities. “NIIF’s role is to create meaningful and investable pathways to accelerate the flow of capital into India’s growth,” he said. He added that he plans to build on relationships with existing investors while bringing new institutional partners to the NIIF platform.
