Motorola teased a new passport-style Razr Fold, just days after Apple unveiled the iPhone Duo, its first foldable iPhone. The teaser points to a shorter and wider foldable design, putting Motorola alongside Apple and Samsung in the growing race for wider-format foldable smartphones.
The teaser appeared weeks after Samsung's wide-format Galaxy Z Fold 8 landed in India. Motorola's upcoming device appears to adopt the same short-and-wide design language that Apple and Samsung have embraced this year.
Motorola's teaser was posted by the company on its official Instagram and X pages. The video starts with the trademarked ‘razr’ phrase from the company before going into a quick preview of the outline of the upcoming foldable device.
The phone is in a black camouflage casing that makes it hard to identify the size and positioning of its buttons. In the video, the phone has a short and wide body design, with a rectangular rear camera module.
The design resembles a passport more than the traditional book-style foldable format. The wider construction could allow for a larger cover display while offering a less narrow profile when the phone is unfolded.
Motorola did not confirm the phone's official name, display specifications, processor, camera specifications, battery capacity or price.
The timing of Motorola's teaser is significant. The company shared the video shortly after Apple introduced the iPhone Duo, which also uses a short, wide ‘passport’ form factor.
Samsung already adopted a wider format with the Galaxy Z Fold 8, which launched in August with a wider 3:4 aspect ratio screen cover. Motorola's teaser now points towards a three-way competition involving Apple, Samsung and Motorola in the wider foldable segment.

Motorola entered the book-style foldable market in India this year with the existing Razr Fold, which starts at ₹1,49,999. It features a 6.6-inch LTPO pOLED cover display with a 165Hz refresh rate and an 8.1-inch inner display with up to a 120Hz refresh rate.
The teased passport-style model is expected to complement, rather than replace, the existing Razr Fold.
