Apple’s iOS 27 update brings a redesigned Liquid Glass experience, a revamped Siri AI, performance improvements, and new features across several core iPhone apps. Apple also confirmed support for iPhone models dating back to the iPhone 11.
Apple will make iOS 27 publicly available on September 14. The over-the-air update will be available for compatible iPhones, and users can install it through Settings > General > Software Update.
The update follows its preview at WWDC 2026 and introduces several changes to improve everyday iPhone use.
One of the biggest additions is the next-generation Apple Intelligence and revamped Siri AI. The new assistant can understand more natural requests, maintain context across interactions, and perform tasks across supported apps.
Siri AI also arrives as a standalone app, allowing users to access previous conversations. The assistant uses a combination of Apple’s Foundation Models and Google’s Gemini AI models.
Apple also introduced new parental controls, including Time Allowances and Schedules, along with an Ask to Browser feature that lets children request access to new websites.

iOS 27 improves Apple’s Liquid Glass design language, including a slider that lets users control opacity.
Performance also receives attention. Apple says apps on iPhone and iPad can launch up to 30 percent faster, while photos can load up to 70 percent faster. AirDrop transfers can also complete up to 80 percent faster.
The update includes an optimized CPU scheduler designed to improve performance across supported devices.
The Phone app receives a redesign and can show important information from Mail. Messages and Mail also offer suggestions under certain messages. Safari can group tabs by topic and notify users when websites update, including changes to prices or product availability.
iOS 27 supports iPhone 11 and newer models, along with iPhone SE (2nd generation and later). The supported lineup includes the iPhone 11, 12, 13, 14, 15, 16, and 17 series, iPhone Air, iPhone 17e, and iPhone SE models.
Apple Intelligence features remain limited to iPhone 15 Pro models and later devices.
