Apple could give its first foldable iPhone a name we have not seen before. Recent leaks linked the phone to three possible names: iPhone Duo, iPhone Ultra, and iPhone Fold. Apple never confirmed any of the names, though rumors have been circulating. Now that the foldable iPhone is almost here, users are speculating about the name. Considering all the aspects, it seems iPhone Duo is going to be the best choice.
All three names have their significance. iPhone Duo indicates two screens, while iPhone Ultra gives the device a rank. Similarly, iPhone Fold suggests a device with two parts. However, Samsung has been launching the iPhone Fold for the last few years. So, it’s highly unlikely that Apple will take the same name for its phone.
The phone is expected to have two rear cameras, while the Pro Max could have three. It may even use Touch ID instead of Face ID. iPhone Duo feels more neutral, and could point to the phone’s two-screen design without making it sound like a replacement for the Pro Max.

The word ‘Duo’ is not new to Apple. The company used it for the PowerBook Duo and later for the MagSafe Duo Charger. The name suggests two parts working together. This fits a foldable iPhone that can work as a normal phone and then open into a larger screen.
Apple’s choice will shape how people see its first foldable phone. ‘Fold’ makes the design easy to understand. ‘Ultra’ makes it sound like Apple’s top model. ‘Duo’ gives Apple more freedom to build a new category around the phone.
Apple’s first foldable is already attracting plenty of attention. The final name could be just as important as the design. For now, iPhone Duo seems to fit best, though Apple could still choose something completely different.
