Apple may introduce improved heart-rate tracking capabilities with the upcoming watchOS 27 update for Apple Watch users. The software upgrades indicate Apple’s growing focus on health tracking and seamless ecosystem integration. Expected updates include a standalone Siri app with chatbot-style capabilities, deeper Apple Intelligence integration across apps, an improved on-device keyboard with better autocorrect, and satellite connectivity support for Apple Maps.

Latest iOS 27 Upgrade Leaks

Apple is expected to announce watchOS 27 and iOS 27 during its WWDC 2026 keynote on June 8. A Bloomberg report has shared a few likely changes to come with watchOS 27 and iOS 27.

The Apple Watch is tipped to get improved heart-rate tracking and stability improvements. The new iOS version could introduce a redesigned AirPods settings interface and visual changes for Siri, among other things. The updates are expected to roll out publicly later this year alongside the next iPhone and Apple Watch lineup.

How watchOS 27 Could Improve Heart-Rate Monitoring

According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, watchOS 27 will include improvements to heart-rate tracking. As smartwatches like the Apple Watch are increasingly used by people to monitor their health metrics like heart rate, this would be helpful in daily tracking. Users could expect more accurate workout metrics and better background health monitoring.

On the customization front, users could expect new watch faces on watchOS 27. The report claims this could include a version of the ‘Modular Ultra’ watch face that is currently exclusive to the Apple Watch Ultra lineup. This could offer users access to denser information layouts for better fitness tracking and productivity.

New AirPods Settings on iOS 27

The leak claimed that the upcoming iOS version will include a cleaner and more organized AirPods settings layout. One key change could be in improving device management for users with multiple Apple audio products. The iOS 27 update will reportedly improve the quality of Genmoji and Image Playground creations using Apple Intelligence and dark mode for Siri. These features will allow users to set Google Cast as an alternative to AirPlay. The AirPlay alternative option may be limited to European Union markets due to regulatory requirements.

Apple Intelligence-based features like Workout Buddy, Live Translation in Messages, and Notification Summaries could land in Apple Watches with watchOS 27. Compatible Apple Watch Ultra models running on watchOS 27 could be able to share Apple Maps and photos through satellite-enabled messages.

Apple’s growing focus on health and wearable technology reflects rising consumer demand for real-time wellness tracking and connected experiences. By improving Apple Watch and AirPods features, the company aims to strengthen its ecosystem, expand healthcare capabilities, and position its devices as essential everyday lifestyle and fitness companions.
