Deepinder Goyal has resigned as Director, Managing Director, and Chief Executive Officer of Eternal, effective February 1. The company announced the leadership change on Wednesday, January 21, alongside its financial results for the quarter ended December 31, 2025.

The board has recommended Goyal’s appointment as Vice Chairman and Director, subject to shareholder approval. If approved, he will serve a five-year term and remain involved at the board level while stepping away from day-to-day operations.

Why did Goyal Say His New Ideas No Longer Fit Listed Company Like Eternal?

Explaining his decision, Goyal said he wants to pursue ideas that do not align with the structure of a listed company. In a post on X, he wrote:

“Of late, I have found myself drawn to a set of new ideas that involve significantly higher-risk exploration and experimentation. These are the kinds of ideas that are better pursued outside a public company like Eternal. If these ideas belonged inside Eternal's strategic scope, I would have pursued them within the company. They do not. Eternal deserves to remain focused and disciplined while exploring new areas of growth that are relevant to its current line of business.”

Who will Lead Eternal After Goyal’s Exit?

From February 1, Blinkit CEO Albinder Singh Dhindsa will take over as Chief Executive Officer and Key Managerial Personnel of Eternal. Dhindsa will oversee daily operations, execution, and business decisions across the group.

“The centre of gravity for operating decisions moves to Albi. As Group CEO, he will own day-to-day execution, operating priorities, and business decisions,” Goyal said.

Why does Goyal See Dhindsa As Right Successor?

Goyal credited Dhindsa for steering Blinkit from acquisition to breakeven. “He built the team, the culture, the supply chain, the operating rhythm,” Goyal said, adding that Dhindsa has the mindset of a founder and execution ability that exceeds his own.

Goyal co-founded Eternal, formerly Zomato, in 2008. He holds an integrated master’s degree from IIT Delhi and previously worked at Bain & Company.
