The Apple Watch SE 3 suddenly became unavailable on Apple’s online stores across several markets, just hours before the company’s September 9 event. The development sparked speculation about a possible surprise launch of the Apple Watch SE 4.
Nearly all configurations of the Apple Watch SE 3 were reportedly shown as unavailable on Apple’s online store in the US and some other countries. The issue affected both delivery and local Apple Store pickup.
The timing stands out as Apple prepares for its September 9 event, where the company is expected to announce new iPhones and Apple Watch models.
Apple did not confirm any change to the SE 3 lineup. The sudden unavailability could also stem from a temporary stock or online-store issue.
An Apple Watch SE 4 launch would mark an unexpected move for Apple. The company traditionally follows a longer upgrade cycle for its SE range. The first-generation Apple Watch SE launched in 2020, followed by the Apple Watch SE 2 in 2022 and the current Apple Watch SE 3 in 2025.
A 2026 launch would therefore mark the first time Apple updated the SE range in consecutive years. No strong reports indicated an SE 4 launch for this year’s event.
Most Apple Watch speculation instead centered on the Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4. These models are expected to succeed the Series 11 and Ultra 3 launched in 2025.
The situation differs for Indian buyers. Apple India continues to list the Apple Watch SE 3, starting at Rs. 25,900. Multiple 40mm and 44mm GPS and GPS + Cellular configurations remain listed.
The SE 3 features an Always-On Retina display, S10 chipset, 5G connectivity on the cellular model, sleep tracking, sleep score, wrist temperature sensing, and the Vitals app. The smartwatch also offers Fall Detection, Crash Detection, and Emergency SOS.
The Apple Watch SE 3 provides up to 18 hours of battery life, extending to up to 32 hours in Low Power Mode, along with fast charging.

Apple’s September 9 event is scheduled to begin at 10:30 pm IST. The event could clarify whether the SE 3 returns to availability or Apple introduces an unexpected SE 4.
For now, the disappearance remains a pre-event development and does not confirm a new model. Apple did not officially confirm an Apple Watch SE 4 launch.
