Artificial intelligence is the main focus at the AI Impact Summit in New Delhi. Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google, shared a strong and hopeful message. He said no technology makes him dream bigger than AI. He called AI the biggest shift of this generation.

Pichai recalled that as a student, he often traveled by train across India, and that Visakhapatnam was a quick stop on his journey. Today, the same city has become a major AI hub, with Google planning to invest $15 billion to build a full-stack AI hub.

Massive Investment in India’s AI Future

The new hub will include large data centers with massive computing power. It will also connect to a new international subsea cable system. This project forms part of the America India Connect initiative. The goal of the initiative is to strengthen AI infrastructure, improve internet speed, and create jobs.

Pichai said AI can improve billions of lives. He believes emerging economies can use AI to grow faster and solve old problems. However, he warned that success is not automatic and requires leaders to act boldly and responsibly.

He stressed that the digital divide must not turn into an AI divide. Access to technology matters. Countries require advanced artificial intelligence systems and improved internet access to create equal opportunities for their citizens.

AI Driving Global Breakthroughs

Pichai highlighted real-world examples of AI in action. Google DeepMind developed AlphaFold, an AI system that predicts protein structures. Scientists struggled with this problem for decades. Today, millions of researchers across more than 190 countries use AlphaFold to fight diseases like malaria and antibiotic resistance.

Isomorphic Labs is using AI to speed up drug discovery. Faster research translates to faster development of life-saving medicines. Pichai said bold questions lead to big breakthroughs.

He also shared examples from India about how AI-powered weather forecasts reached millions of farmers the previous year. These forecasts help farmers prepare for monsoon changes. In El Salvador, AI tools support affordable medical diagnosis and treatment.

Preparing the Workforce for an AI Era

Workforce change was another key theme. AI will reshape jobs where some roles may change, and new careers may appear. Pichai said Google has trained more than 100 million people in digital skills. A new Google AI Professional Certificate now helps people learn AI skills for the future.

Pichai called for global collaboration. Governments must create clear rules. Companies must build safe and useful products. Businesses of all sizes should use AI to innovate and grow.

He closed with a clear message. AI offers a once-in-a-generation chance to improve lives. The world has the tools and talent. Now leaders must work together to realize that vision.
