Want to Earn Some Extra Cash in Oblivion Remastered? Don’t Skip Joining The Thieves Guild

Written By : Antara

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered presents players with some of the most interesting side activities, and many of them appear when one joins the Thieves Guild. As the game progresses, players will eventually discover the different ways to reach the recruitment event at midnight. Passing the test will enable them to join the guild.

The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered has captured the essence of the OG game wonderfully. Throughout the entire journey, players have a range of activities to complete. Not all of them are necessary, but doing them provides some extra advantages in most cases.

During the playthrough, players will get the chance to join 14 different factions or guilds. The choice depends on one’s preferences, but for those who are fond of stealth and shadow, the Thieves Guild is for them. Joining this guild not only offers unique missions but also takes players to experience a cinematic gameplay revolving around Gray Fox.

If you are curious to know about how to join the Thieves Guild, here’s a detailed step-by-step guide to follow.

Oblivion Remastered Thieves Guild: Initiation into the Shadows

The path to join the Thieves isn’t fixed. Instead, different players can join them differently based on their in-game situation. Embarking on the path to join the Thieves’ Guild can be approached through various methods, each catering to different playstyles and character backgrounds. Below are the possible methods to join the Thieves:

Engaging with the Gray Fox Mythos: The first and the most convenient one is to go with the Gray Fox mythos. Throughout the journey, players will find that the Imperial City is full of wanted posters about Gray Fox. Now, players have to interact with these posters and get friendly with beggars through persuasion or bribery. This will lead them to know about a secret meeting. Even beggars can take players to the Garden of Dareloth in the Waterfront District at midnight. This is the location where the Thieves Guild recruits members.

Experiencing Incarceration: The second option includes joining it through a quest. It’s for those players who are already imprisoned for non-violent crimes like pickpocketing. Once they are released, they are often approached by the Thieves Guild members. An NPC named Myvryna Arano delivers a letter from the Gray Fox, which will initiate the Finding the Thieves Guild quest. This will guide players to the same location where the recruitment happens.

Direct Approach: The third and the final way is to simply visit the Garden of Dareloth in the Waterfront District and wait until midnight. This will also trigger the recruitment event without taking help from the beggars or completing quests.

Once they arrive at the location, players have to meet Armand Christophe. Armand will present a challenge of retrieving Amantius Allectus's diary from his residence in the Temple District. The first one to complete this will be recruited.

Speed is the key to getting the diary as another contender, Methredhel will also give hard competition. Players will find the house in the Temple District, and once there, they have to turn right to find the diary on a table. If the opponent gets it before, pickpocket her to be the winner.

After stealing the diary, return to Armand Christophe to initiate further activities to have a smooth transition to the guild.

Thieves Guild Quest List in Oblivion Remastered

Joining the Thieves unlocks different benefits, and among them, one of the most notable is access to the Fence. As players progress, they will trigger the Independent Thievery, where they have to fence enough stolen items to initiate most of the guild quests. The list includes:

  • Finding the Thieves Guild

  • May the Best Thief Win

  • Independent Thievery

  • Untaxing the Poor

  • The Elven Maiden

  • Ahdarji's Heirloom

  • Misdirection

  • Lost Histories

  • Taking Care of Lex

  • Turning a Blind Eye

  • Arrow of Extrication

  • Boots of Springheel Jak

  • The Ultimate Heist

  • Cast out of the Thieves Guild

These are tasks for the Thieves Guild member, so they are, of course, related to stealing items. However, the Thieves Guild has strict rules that one should follow. If someone is caught murdering/attacking other guild members or stealing things from them, players will be suspended.

To get back to the guild, they have to speak with Armand in the Waterfront District of the Imperial City and pay him the fine:

  • Stealing - 200 Gold

  • Assault - 500 Gold

  • Murder - 1000 Gold

There’s no limit for one player to get suspended. The more times they break the rules, the more they will get suspended.

Conclusion

That’s more or less everything that one should know about joining the Thieves Guild in The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion Remastered. To become a successful member of this guild, one should be stealthy and cunning. Progressing as a member of this guild, players will get great opportunities for character development and engaging gameplay. So, don’t miss the chance and dive into getting the membership of the Thieves Guild.
