The iPhone 15 Pro made titanium its selling point in 2023. Three years later, the iPhone 18 Pro uses aluminum. Rated video playback still climbs by 13 hours on eSIM-only models. The phone reached stores on 18 September 2026 with a 2nm chip and an aperture that can change.
The older phone also brought an Action button and USB-C. It helped shape Apple's current Pro formula. Its successor keeps that formula. The A20 Pro chip is the first iPhone processor built on a 2nm process. The A17 Pro in the older phone was the first built on 3 nm. The six CPU cores in the new chip split into two high-power cores and four efficient ones. Apple says the packaging draws on its Mac chips, with memory placed beside the processor.
Apple makes two speed claims. Its graphics processor runs up to 40% faster than the one in the A19 Pro. Sustained performance is up to 40% better than the iPhone 17 Pro, helped by a larger cooling system. The figures use different baselines. Apple has not published a direct comparison with the iPhone 15 Pro. The numbers should not be added together.
Battery life shows the clearest measured jump. The higher rating applies only to eSIM-only models, which have no SIM tray. Apple sells those in the US, Canada, Japan, Mexico, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, among other markets.
Buyers elsewhere should check the SIM setup and rated battery life for their region. The fast-charging figure depends on a 60W-capable adapter. The box holds only a cable. Wireless charging on MagSafe rises from 15W to 25W.
The iPhone 18 Pro camera keeps the 48MP main sensor of the older model. Its aperture can now change. Apple offers four settings between f/1.48 and f/4. A wider opening lets in more light. A narrower one keeps more of the scene in focus.
The Camera app adds manual controls for aperture and shutter speed. The same controls extend to video. The front camera also rises from 12MP to 18MP. The telephoto lens gains an 8x mode that Apple calls optical quality, shot at 12MP.
A quieter addition is the Apple Reference Image. It is an opt-in mode on the main camera. It signs sensor data at the moment of capture, which lets viewers check what the camera recorded. The feature shows if a photo was edited, but it can’t show if the scene was staged.
Viewing a reference image needs iOS 27 or newer on an iPhone, iPad, or Mac. Developing one needs an internet connection. Capture is unavailable in the EU and China at launch.

The iPhone 18 Pro price starts above the older phone's launch price. Apple raised the starting price by USD 100 over the iPhone 17 Pro. Against the older phone, the fairer comparison is at 256GB, where the gap is USD 100 as well. Storage now tops out at 2TB, twice the older phone's ceiling. That model costs USD 2,399.
On software, the iPhone 15 Pro was among the first models to run Apple Intelligence, which arrived with iOS 18.1 in October 2024. The newer phone ships with iOS 27. It carries a dual 16-core Neural Engine, the part of the chip that handles AI tasks on the device. Apple's new Siri AI arrives in beta, in English to start.
