Jaguar has unveiled the Type 01, an all-electric luxury grand tourer that marks a significant shift in the British automaker’s direction. Revealed in New York on October 7, 2026, the four-door electric car combines a distinctive design, high-performance engineering, and a technology-focused cabin as the brand enters a new phase of its electric mobility strategy.
The Type 01 is the first production model built on Jaguar’s dedicated Electric Architecture (JEA). It is also the first in a new generation of vehicles through which the company intends to redefine its identity in the luxury car market. Designed, engineered, and built in the UK, the electric grand tourer draws inspiration from classic Jaguar models while adopting a new design language and an all-electric powertrain.
The Jaguar Type 01 has a low-slung roof, long bonnet, streamlined body, and extended rear overhang. The design gives this electric grand tourer strong road presence while still maintaining aesthetic links to traditional Jaguar designs such as the E-Type and the XJS.
One of the Type 01’s most notable features is the absence of a rear window or any glass. This creates a streamlined rear, with full-width rear lights as part of the Jaguar Strikethrough graphics. The front features LED headlamps, while the wide stance and large 23-inch wheels contribute to the massive look.
Jaguar also emphasizes aerodynamics. Active vanes, a three-stage deployable spoiler, and improved airflow result in a drag coefficient of 0.23, the lowest of any of its road cars.
The cabin follows a design philosophy focused on personal space and technology. A longitudinal spine runs along the inside of the cabin, dividing it into four personal spaces. Brass-effect anodized aluminum finishers are used longitudinally in the cabin.
The driver’s area features a 24-inch OLED display on a single glass panel. Known as the Interactive Driver Display, it offers access to the vehicle’s infotainment functions. A seven-inch touchscreen sits between the driver and front-seat occupant to control the vehicle.
Jaguar’s Immersive Sound System is included in the Type 01 and comprises a full-width Panoramic Soundbar, along with Sensory Audio seats.

The Type 01 has an intelligent, torque-vectoring, three-motor electric drivetrain. Jaguar promises peak performance of up to 1,030PS and 1,365Nm of torque, more power than any other road vehicle in Jaguar’s history.
The electric grand tourer takes just 3.2 seconds to accelerate from 0 to 62mph (0-100 km/h). Jaguar has also emphasized its rolling acceleration, saying the car goes from 62mph to 112mph in just four seconds. The powertrain design delivers outstanding acceleration and a pleasant drive.
The vehicle’s proportions, handling, and performance are determined by the JEA platform, developed specifically for it. Jaguar states the vehicle has a 50:50 weight distribution, balancing driving ability with ride comfort. Jaguar used its TCS Racing Formula E engineering experience to develop the vehicle’s drive characteristics.
The Jaguar Type 01 has a 118kWh usable battery and an 850-volt electrical architecture. The company estimates a driving range of up to 400 miles under the EPA testing cycle, while the claimed WLTP range goes up to 450 miles.
For charging, Jaguar says the Type 01 can add up to 200 miles of range in 13 minutes using a compatible 350kW rapid DC charger. Actual range and charging times may vary depending on driving conditions, battery temperature, charging infrastructure, and other factors.
