Overview:

  • Ultrahuman's new Heart Scan enables users to monitor heart rhythms on demand through compatible smart rings.

  • The 60-second feature uses optical sensors and FibriCheck algorithms to identify potential irregular heartbeat patterns.

  • Users can download PDF reports and share recorded pulse data with healthcare professionals for further evaluation.

Wearable technology is gradually moving beyond fitness tracking, sleep monitoring and activity measurements to offer more detailed insights into heart health. Ultrahuman is the latest company expanding its health-monitoring capabilities with a new Heart Scan feature for its smart rings.

Developed in partnership with health technology company FibriCheck, the feature allows users to check their heart rhythm on demand in just 60 seconds.

The new feature is designed to help users identify potential irregularities, including signs of atrial fibrillation (AFib), without having to wait for their ring's regular overnight monitoring.

Available for eligible Ultrahuman Ring AIR and Ring PRO users in supported markets, Heart Scan adds another layer to the company's growing health-tracking ecosystem.

What is Ultrahuman's New Heart Scan Feature?

Ultrahuman's Heart Scan is an on-demand heart rhythm monitoring feature that allows users to check their pulse whenever they want. Unlike traditional heart rate tracking, which primarily measures how fast the heart beats, the feature examines the pattern of the pulse to identify potential rhythm irregularities.

The feature is powered by FibriCheck, a health technology platform that specialises in detecting irregular heart rhythms through pulse signal analysis. It builds on Ultrahuman's existing AFib Detection PowerPlug, which provides overnight heart rhythm assessments.

The primary difference is that users no longer have to rely exclusively on nighttime monitoring. They can initiate a scan during the day, particularly when they notice unusual heartbeats or experience sensations such as fluttering or palpitations.

How Does Ultrahuman Heart Scan Work?

The process of utilizing the new technology is quite easy. First, one needs to access the Ultrahuman app and start a Heart Scan from there. During the scan, the user should stay in one place for about 60 seconds.

During this time, the Ultrahuman Ring will be detecting pulse waves via its optical sensors and analyzing them according to FibriCheck's algorithm in order to detect any signs of irregular heartbeat.

Once the scan ends, its results will be displayed right in the Ultrahuman app. There is no need for users to go to a healthcare institution or use another device for heart rate monitoring.

Photoplethysmography (PPG) is the technology behind it and it uses optical sensors to detect changes in the blood volume under the skin. It should not be confused with an electrocardiogram (ECG) that detects the heart's electrical activity.

What Results Can Users Expect?

After undergoing a Heart Scan, users will be provided with any of the following outcomes: Regular, Possibly Irregular, Possible Atrial Fibrillation, Signal Quality Too Low, or Inconclusive. This is how users know if their pulse pattern is regular or needs professional evaluation.

Another helpful function is that it generates a PDF report, which can be downloaded from FibriCheck. The report contains the recorded pulse pattern from the Heart Scan, and a tachogram and a Lorenz plot showing the intervals between heartbeats.

Users can send the report to doctors and provide doctors with the recorded information rather than just a verbal description of the symptoms.

Availability and Compatibility

Heart Scan by Ultrahuman was rolled out on October 7, 2026, to qualified Ring AIR and Ring PRO users in all supported markets in the UK, Europe, the Middle East, and Asia-Pacific. Free scans are available to the qualified users using the Ultrahuman dashboard.

The feature works with the Ultrahuman mobile app, versions 4.3.0 (for iOS) and 3.2.0.0 (for Android). The overnight AFib monitoring feature remains functional through the AFib Detection PowerPlug.

What are the Limitations of Heart Scan?

Although the Heart Scan provides a good heart monitor function, it is not an alternative to any form of medical diagnosis by experts.

As pointed out by Ultrahuman, FibriCheck does not diagnose cases of heart attacks and ischemia. Likewise, even a scan result is not necessarily the absence of all heart rhythm disorders. It has been recommended not to alter the use of any medication because of scan results.

Final Take

With Heart Scan, Ultrahuman is making heart rhythm monitoring more accessible by combining wearable sensors with specialised health-analysis software. The ability to initiate a 60-second check whenever needed could help users capture irregularities that occasional or overnight monitoring might miss.

However, the feature remains a screening tool, not a medical diagnosis. Its real value will depend on how effectively users and healthcare professionals interpret the information it provides.

Ultrahuman heart scan is an on-demand monitoring feature that analyses pulse patterns through compatible smart rings to identify potential irregular heart rhythms, including signs of atrial fibrillation.

How long does an ultrahuman's heart scan take?

The heart scan takes approximately 60 seconds. Users need to remain still while their ultrahuman ring captures pulse signals through optical sensors for analysis.

Which ultrahuman smart rings support the heart scan feature?

The feature is available to eligible ultrahuman ring air and ring pro users in supported markets, subject to compatible mobile application versions and regional availability.

Can ultrahuman heart scan detect atrial fibrillation?

The feature can identify pulse patterns that may indicate atrial fibrillation. However, it is a screening tool and cannot independently confirm a medical diagnosis.

Can users share ultrahuman heart scan results with doctors?

Yes. Users can download a pdf report containing pulse recordings and visualizations, including tachograms and lorenz plots, and share the information with healthcare professionals for evaluation.
