Samsung’s One UI 9 update marks the next major software step for Galaxy phones. Built on Android 17, the new interface adds more Galaxy AI tools, stronger privacy controls, smarter daily assistance, and several practical changes across Samsung apps. The stable release first reached the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8, and Galaxy Z Flip8. Samsung then started the wider Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra rollout on September 16.
One of the most visible additions is My FanCam. The feature can track a selected person in a recorded video and keep that person near the center of the frame. The software can also adjust the frame as the scene changes. That can help with videos of a child at a school event, a friend at a party, or a sports moment. My FanCam needs a Samsung Account, and results can vary based on the video.
Now Brief also gets a major change with Generative and Editable Cards. These cards let Galaxy users select the type of information that appears in a daily summary. Health, weather, and video can all form part of the cards. Samsung also adds Now Nudge, which can offer context-aware actions at useful moments. A text chat about a trip, for example, can lead to reservation details or an option to save a shared location without leaving the conversation.
Creative Studio gets a more timely role as well. Samsung can suggest image ideas tied to events on the calendar. A friend’s birthday, for example, can prompt a themed image or greeting. This feature puts more of Samsung’s AI tools inside normal Galaxy tasks instead of limiting them to separate apps.

One UI 9 adds useful changes to Interpreter, Samsung’s translation tool. A new Thread View helps users follow earlier parts of a translated conversation. Conversation Mode also gets faster translation, while compatible Galaxy Buds can provide quicker translated audio playback. Language support still varies by country, carrier, and device.
Document Scan gets better with difficult pages such as curved book pages and papers with folded corners. Compatible large-screen Galaxy devices also get optimized scan views, while Finger Eraser gets an upgrade. Voice Recorder can now present summaries with headings and tables, which gives long recordings a clearer structure and makes key details easier to find.
Samsung also adds Warranty and Care to Settings. The section can show warranty details for connected devices, offer self-diagnostics, provide repair estimates, and give access to Samsung Care+ or service appointments. Exact options can vary by country and device.

Security gets more attention in One UI 9. Security Brief adds alerts for malware, apps from unknown sources, and unnecessary permissions to Now Brief. Privacy Alerts use on-device AI to flag possible privacy risks, such as unnecessary background access to permissions. Scam Detection also expands to more countries and languages. Samsung lists India, Japan, and Canada among the markets set to receive the feature.
The interface itself also gets practical changes. The Quick Panel offers more control over its layout, with separate adjustment options for brightness, sound, and the media player. Samsung also adds accessibility improvements such as adjustable Mouse Key speed, a combined TalkBack package, and Text Spotlight, which can show selected text in a larger floating window.
As of September 29, the stable rollout has expanded beyond the first Galaxy S26 release. Samsung has confirmed the wider One UI 9 rollout, while current reports show stable software on Galaxy S26 models across the United States and on the Galaxy S25 series in South Korea. The Galaxy S25 FE and S25 Edge also have stable releases in South Korea. Other models and regions still depend on Samsung’s schedule, with availability set to vary by device, carrier, country, and language.
One UI 9 therefore goes beyond a simple Android version change. Android 17 provides the foundation, while Samsung adds Galaxy-specific AI, privacy tools, camera features, document tools, translation upgrades, and interface changes on top. The result is a software release that puts more useful actions inside everyday Galaxy apps, while the exact feature set still depends on the Galaxy model and market.
