The Indian stock market is closed today, September 14, for Ganesh Chaturthi. Both the BSE and NSE are shut for trading in equity, derivatives, and securities lending and borrowing. The holiday comes after the weekend, giving investors a three-day break.

Trading will start again on Tuesday, September 15. The pre-open session will begin at 9:00 AM, followed by normal trading from 9:15 AM to 3:30 PM. The market closing session takes place between 3:40 PM and 4:00 PM on trading days.

The next holidays when the stock market will be closed are Mahatma Gandhi Jayanti (October 2), Dussehra (October 20), Diwali-Balipratipada (November 10), Prakash Gurpurb (November 24), and Christmas (December 25).

The latest three-day break comes at a busy time for global markets. Oil prices have risen by more than USD 3 after fresh strikes involving Saudi Arabia and the Strait of Hormuz. Gold is also likely to remain volatile. Investors are watching crude prices, the dollar, the US-Iran conflict, and the US Federal Reserve's next rate decision. The Fed meeting is scheduled for September 15 and 16.

A Crucial Week for Investors

Gold is often seen as a safe place during times of trouble. However, rising oil prices have been changing the picture in recent times. The global conflict has pushed crude oil prices higher. Thus, investors are expecting the Fed to keep interest rates high for longer.

However, the higher rates can make gold less attractive because the metal does not pay interest. This creates pressure on gold even as global market instability pushes investors toward safe-haven assets.

The market holiday gives investors a short pause, but the next trading session could be active. Oil prices, the Fed decision, and gold moves will be key signals to watch before making fresh investment decisions.
