Unlike other ultra-fast EV charging technologies that focus on charging speeds, Huawei’s FusionCharge platform looks at the issue of grid infrastructure in conjunction with charging speeds. It uses its DC coupled battery technology, which is capable of delivering up to 720kW through 12 chargers from a grid source of around 50kW. It uses liquid cooled power units, dispensers, and cables to handle high currents, ensuring noise levels do not exceed 55dB. Huawei boasts of up to 96% efficiency in the system and 92.1% efficiency for the battery round trip.
Here are the Huawei FusionCharge EV Charger Specifications.
Here are the Pros and Cons of Huawei FusionCharge EV Charger.
What is special about Huawei FusionCharge is that its main value does not lie in the 720kW fast charge capability, but in the fact that it manages to deal with the shortcomings of the grid. With a DC-coupled battery system, operators manage to take a relatively small amount of energy from the grid, providing vehicles with a significantly larger amount of peak power. The platform benefits from liquid cooling, modularity and high efficiency features. The one drawback here is that the five-minute charge for 125 miles is not typical for most EVs at the moment due to many constraints.
