Global payments infrastructure platform Mercuryo has announced the integration of Passkey for robust and intuitive fiat-to-crypto payment authentication. Mercuryo users who activate Passkey can log-in via its biometric solution without the need to input a One Time Passcode (OTP), delivered via text message or email.
Passkey utilises robust encryption technology and has a proven track record for delivering an optimal user experience. Passkey’s biometric authentication utilises fingerprint or face scan, providing an intuitive means of signing in to an account.
Available on iPhone, Android or Windows, Passkey will be rolled out across Mercuryo’s 200-plus partner network, which includes leading non-custodial wallets.
Petr Kozyakov, Co-Founder and CEO at Mercuryo, said: “We are delighted to have integrated Passkey, a feature that provides an optimal and intuitive log-in process while also greatly enhancing the protection of users’ data. The introduction of Passkey demonstrates our commitment to continuously evolving our service to deliver an exceptional user experience that will help further mainstream adoption of web3 payments.”
“The addition of Passkey to the Mercuryo platform will further enhance the user experience for those buying and selling digital tokens in Trust Wallet. We are confident that there will be a ready uptake of this biometric security layer among our user base. Passkey provides an optimal and robust means of enabling users to obtain access to their accounts and make transactions.” said Tatiana Kurach, Business Development at Trust Wallet.
Passkey provides protection against common digital attack vectors and an additional layer of defense against sophisticated threats emanating from new technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI). By helping to protect against malware and phishing attacks, Passkey helps to circumvent the vulnerabilities inherent in email and text message-based authentication processes.
Originally developed by FIDO Alliance, Passkey provides a credential that is only registered once on a user’s personal device. The device then proves possession of the registered credential to the remote server via the user’s screen lock.
One of the greatest obstacles to web3 mass adoption has been the challenge of delivering accessible payments. Passkey solves the key pain points by providing a streamlined and encrypted means of verifying a user’s identity while eliminating complexity.
