One UI 9 Update: 7 Changes Coming to Galaxy Phones

One UI 9 Is Here - Samsung’s One UI 9 brings a stronger focus on contextual AI, creative tools, privacy and everyday convenience. The rollout began with the Galaxy S26 series and is expanding to more compatible Galaxy devices. Here are seven changes worth knowing about the latest software update.

Now Nudge - Now Nudge is designed to understand context and suggest useful next steps. For example, while discussing plans in a conversation, it can help surface reservation details or save a shared location without requiring users to jump manually between multiple apps.

My FanCam - My FanCam brings AI-powered reframing to videos after they are recorded. Users can select a person, and Galaxy AI can create a subject-focused crop from wider footage. The feature is designed to make event videos easier to edit and share across different formats.

Smarter Now Brief - Now Brief gets more personalised in One UI 9. Users can customise the types of briefings they receive, while action buttons can provide shortcuts into tasks such as music playback, calendar events and navigation. The goal is to make daily information more immediately useful.

Voice-Based Photo Assist - Photo Assist gets a more natural editing experience. Instead of relying only on written prompts, users can describe desired changes using their voice. Galaxy AI then attempts to make the requested edit, with the original and modified versions available for comparison.

Better Privacy Awareness - One UI 9 adds stronger privacy-focused experiences, including security checks and AI-powered alerts for potential risks. Samsung also highlights on-device processing through its Personal Data Engine for supported Galaxy AI experiences, helping reduce unnecessary sharing of personal information.

More Everyday Improvements - One UI 9 also updates tools such as Interpreter, Document Scan, Voice Recorder and device care. Interpreter gains a Thread View, while other features receive usability improvements. Availability can vary by device, region and language, so not every Galaxy phone will receive.
