Xiaomi has showcased the Xiaomi 18 Fold at IFA 2026 in Berlin ahead of its September 7 China launch. The foldable flagship introduces a wider design, Leica cameras, and Xiaomi’s new XRING O3 processor. The company displayed the device within a glass box, limiting the first look to its exterior design.

Xiaomi 18 Fold uses a 5.38-inch cover screen and a 7.58-inch inner display. Xiaomi calls this format ‘mid-fold’ because it balances phone usability with larger-screen productivity. Its China launch arrives two days before Apple’s September 9 event, where a first foldable iPhone could appear.

The new shape gives the device a shorter and wider profile than Xiaomi’s earlier Mix Fold models. The unfolded screen targets multitasking and video, while the closed phone takes a passport-like shape. The approach closely matches the wider direction seen across newer foldable designs.

A horizontal rear camera bar adds three Leica-developed cameras and an LED flash. Markings on the display model indicate a focal range from 17mm to 80mm. Xiaomi has not revealed every camera specification, so final sensor details remain unclear before launch.

The XRING O3 processor gives the Xiaomi 18 Fold another major distinction. Xiaomi built the 3nm chip with a 10-core CPU, 16-core GPU, and four-core NPU. The NPU reaches a claimed 200 TOPS, while LPDDR6 memory support comes from CXMT.

The inner screen also appeared nearly crease-free from normal viewing angles. The glass display prevented detailed testing, leaving hinge feel, durability, and real-world crease visibility unanswered. Xiaomi will reveal more details, including pricing, during the September 7 launch.

Global availability remains unconfirmed, keeping the Xiaomi 18 Fold initially focused on China. Its timing still creates a strong headline moment, placing Xiaomi’s wide foldable directly ahead of Apple’s expected entry.
