WhatsApp is introducing new group chat features to make voting, alerts, and planning easier. The company announced the changes globally on August 4. The update brings poll deadlines, anonymous voting, @all mentions, and a faster way to create new groups. WhatsApp is rolling out these features gradually over the coming weeks.

Anonymous WhatsApp Polls

WhatsApp users can create polls with a fixed voting deadline. Poll creators can also hide voter names when members need more privacy.

Poll questions can also be edited within 15 minutes after posting. This option can help fix spelling mistakes or clarify a question without creating another poll. These changes can make group decisions simpler and reduce the need for repeated messages.

Quick Alerts with @all

The new @all mentions feature can notify every group member with one tag. It can help with urgent updates on school closures, office changes, event deadlines, or sudden changes to plans.

Groups with more than 32 members will allow only admins to use @all. The alert can appear even when a group remains muted, though users can mute @all notifications in settings.

New Group Chats from Existing Groups

WhatsApp also lets users create a new group from an existing group with one tap. Members can start separate chats for event planning, projects, or private discussions without adding everyone again.

The new features aim to reduce clutter and make large group conversations easier to manage.
