WhatsApp has started rolling out the ability to leave a voice message immediately if someone doesn’t answer your call. Instead of going through the hassle of disconnecting and manually opening the chat window, users will now directly see the ‘Record voice message’ button on the call screen. With a single tap, users can send a quick voice note to explain why they called, ensuring the recipient receives both the missed call alert and the audio.
This update tries to make conversations smoother, especially when the other person is unavailable or in a low-network area. However, the feature is currently only available for iOS users, with Android support expected later.
WhatsApp is introducing the ability to leave short video messages if a video call isn’t answered, per WABetaInfo. This adds to the growing set of communication tools on the platform, making sure that users can share context visually and maintain a conversational flow when live calls fail.
The new voice message update comes along with WhatsApp’s redesign of the Calls tab into a simplified unified call hub. All communication tools are gathered in one place; thus, users can easily manage voice and video communications.
The hub is made of the following items:
Call Button: Individual or group calls can be started with up to 31 participants via a simplified contact list.
Scheduling Button: Plan calls in advance, valid for meetings, study groups, or family catch-ups.
Keypad Button: Dial numbers directly via WhatsApp, even if the number is not saved on your phone.
Favourites: Quickly access your most frequent contacts within a dedicated area.

WhatsApp has confirmed the rollout is gradual, so not all users may see the features immediately. The next application update is expected to add voice messaging and a redesigned center.
This update follows WhatsApp’s push to make calling more intuitive and seamless, giving users a variety of ways to get in touch when real-time conversations don’t connect.
