A Binance bankruptcy could trigger substantial cryptocurrency losses, disrupt global liquidity, and undermine investor confidence. Three artificial intelligence platforms, ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Google Gemini, outlined potential consequences, including severe Bitcoin declines and prolonged market instability.
According to ChatGPT's assessment, a disorderly Binance collapse could push Bitcoin down 30%-50%, while smaller cryptocurrencies might lose up to 80%. BNB could face particularly severe pressure, potentially declining 95% due to its close relationship with Binance's trading ecosystem.
“Bitcoin would most likely fall as it is easier to sell than smaller assets,” ChatGPT explained. The model suggested that institutions facing frozen exchange balances might liquidate cryptocurrencies held elsewhere, accelerating selling across unrelated markets. However, Bitcoin could recover faster than smaller tokens as liquidity gradually shifts toward surviving exchanges.
Perplexity projected that Binance's bankruptcy could produce a confidence shock potentially exceeding the disruption caused by FTX's 2022 collapse. “Bitcoin, Ether, BNB, and especially smaller altcoins would likely sell off as traders rush to exit through other venues,” the chatbot stated.
It also warned that customers could face prolonged withdrawal restrictions while bankruptcy courts and regulators determine creditor recoveries. Such uncertainty could encourage investors to adopt self-custody solutions and diversify their trading activity.
According to Google Gemini's assessment, Bitcoin could decline approximately 65%, while leading altcoins might experience losses approaching 90%. Nevertheless, institutional adoption could provide Bitcoin with stronger long-term recovery prospects.
Spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds launched by BlackRock, Fidelity and other financial institutions have reportedly attracted more than USD 56.5 billion in cumulative net inflows. Gemini also suggested that Binance's collapse could accelerate industry fragmentation, reducing reliance on dominant centralized platforms.
A Binance bankruptcy would potentially disrupt trading, custody arrangements and market-making activities worldwide. However, competing exchanges could eventually absorb displaced trading volumes, while investors increasingly prioritize transparency and asset protection.
The AI-generated percentage estimates lack demonstrated forecasting reliability. Actual losses would depend on bankruptcy circumstances, available reserves, regulatory intervention, and broader market conditions.
