A US Army battalion turned the launch of GTA 6 into an unusual re-enlistment perk. According to a flyer posted on Instagram, the 9th Engineer Battalion in Fort Stewart, Georgia, announced a unique four-day vacation after GTA 6 releases. The flyer was first spotted on the feed of US Army WTF! Moments, and it seems to be signed by commanding officer Lt. Col. Ryan D. Hodgson, calling it a ‘special reenlistment incentive.’

Soldiers will reportedly get four days off to play the game, and the flyer mentioned it as a medium to promote retention, boost morale, and reward the continued dedication of the Soldiers within the 9th Brigade Engineer Battalion. Soldiers who will re-enlist between August 1 and November 14 will get the chance to access the pass.

The exact dates of the pass are still uncertain, but it seems it will probably be between November 20 and 23, the exact time when GTA 6 will release. Initially, people suspected it was a false leak, but various sites have confirmed that the name of the commanding officer who signed the flyer belongs to a real Lieutenant Colonel. Reportedly, he took charge of the Fort Stewart Battalion in July 2026.

Additionally, it’s not the first time, as US Army veterans have confirmed that the military previously took a similar initiative to re-enroll soldiers.

Gaming as a Military Perk

The Army’s reported offer may sound strange, but gaming perks are not new. Some companies give workers gaming time, gaming events, or flexible hours as part of their employee benefits.

These perks can help make work feel less stressful. They can also give workers a chance to spend time with their teammates in a more relaxed setting. The Army’s reported offer takes the idea a step further. Here, playing a major game is tied to a much bigger choice: staying in the military.

GTA 6 Boosts Re-Enlistment Appeal

The offer also shows the strong pull GTA 6 has created ahead of its launch. The game has been one of the most talked-about titles for years. For soldiers who already plan to re-enlist, four days of leave could be a welcome extra. For the Army, the goal is more practical. It is about keeping trained and experienced soldiers from leaving. If the report is accurate, GTA 6 has earned a place on a very unusual list of workplace perks.
