X (formerly known as Twitter) is facing a massive global outage, the third major disruption in the platform’s recent history. Thousands of users across the globe have reported problems with the site, ranging from feed refresh issues, error messages, to server connectivity issues.

Over 40,000 users in the United States and 8,000 users in the United Kingdom have experienced problems, reported by outage monitor website Downdetector. Over 1,000 people have complained in India. Both the mobile app and website were impacted by the outage, meaning users were not able to post, browse, or interact with content.

Repeated Technical Malfunctions on X

This most recent X outage is part of a trend of stop-and-start service disruptions that have haunted the platform since Elon Musk took the reins. Although service was restored briefly, the outage still infuriated users across the globe, inspiring many posts and hashtags, like Elon Musk's Twitter down again, going viral on social media platforms:

While X has already experienced occasional interruptions, the frequency of these occurrences has sparked concerns regarding the stability of the platform. Users have expressed frustration regarding the lack of reliability in accessing the platform, especially as X is advocating for greater engagement and monetization efforts.

No Official Statement from X Yet

So far, X has not released an official update on the cause of the outage or when restoration will be completed. The silence of the company on repeated problems has only fuelled user disgruntlement.

With X experiencing another serious service breakdown, doubts are being cast on whether the social media platform can be stable in the long term and avoid future disruptions. Users will be watching closely to see if X does anything to correct these ongoing technical issues.
