Tinder has introduced Group Hangouts, a new feature that allows friends to connect with other groups on the dating app through shared activities and group conversations. The feature builds on Tinder’s Double Date feature and expands the experience from pairs to groups of three or more.

Group Hangouts is rolling out in the US and select markets, with more regions expected to follow. Users who have access to the feature will find it at the top of Tinder’s home screen. It is free to use and can be managed through the app’s settings.

How Tinder Group Hangouts Works

To use Group Hangouts, one person can create a group, choose an activity, and invite at least two friends. Once a group has at least three members, its profile can appear in Tinder’s Discovery feed alongside individual and Double Date profiles.

Groups do not need to be the same size. Users can browse other groups and send a Like. When the interest is mutual, with at least one person from each group expressing interest, Tinder opens a shared chat for all members. The group can then use the conversation to make plans before meeting in person.

The groups shown to users are based on their existing Discovery preferences, including interests and activities. Users can also choose whether to see group profiles in Discovery or hide them.

Group Hangouts Builds on Double Date

The feature follows Tinder’s Double Date format, which launched in June 2025. Tinder said 90 percent of Double Date users were under 30.

During early Group Hangouts testing in Australia, 40 percent of invitations were accepted. Women were 2.2 times more likely to like a group profile than a regular one, according to Tinder’s internal testing data.

Safety and Account Requirements

Every participant needs an individual Tinder account and must be at least 18 years old. Members can leave a group conversation without leaving the wider group. They can also block or report other participants.

Tinder’s existing moderation and safety measures apply to Group Hangouts, including Face Check where available. Boosts and Super Likes are currently unavailable for Group Hangouts, while some feature details may change during the rollout.
