TikTok quietly launched a dedicated TikTok Shop app, marking a major step in its effort to build a full-scale e-commerce ecosystem. The app is now live on iOS and Android in Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and the Philippines.
The move separates shopping from TikTok’s core entertainment feed. Users can now browse products, watch livestreams and make purchases without opening the main TikTok app. TikTok first introduced TikTok Shop in 2021, but this is its first stand-alone shopping application.
The new app blends short-form video, livestream commerce and conventional online shopping. It offers personalized product recommendations, exclusive app-only deals, free-shipping offers and benefits for first-time buyers.
Shoppers can complete secure in-app payments, track orders and access customer support around the clock. TikTok says the platform is designed to help users discover products through creators, brands and live shopping events.
The launch signals TikTok’s ambition to move beyond being a discovery platform. By giving Shop its own app, the company aims to create a stronger habit of direct purchasing and compete more aggressively with Amazon, Temu and other e-commerce players.
TikTok has not rolled out the app in the United States, the United Kingdom or other major markets. The company has also not shared a timeline for a wider global expansion.
The quiet launch suggests TikTok is testing demand and refining the experience before committing to a broader rollout. Analysts will watch whether the stand-alone app can convert TikTok’s high engagement into sustained shopping revenue.
