Tesla has introduced a redesigned mobile app for larger screens, adding a dedicated interface for iPads, Apple’s foldable iPhone Duo, and Android tablets and foldable devices. The update replaces the stretched phone interface with a layout that makes vehicle controls and home-energy information easier to access.
Tesla designer Alex Guichet announced the rollout on October 21, saying the app was finally coming to larger screens. However, the update is being released gradually and may take another week or two to reach all users.
The redesigned app features a two-column interface, with navigation and controls on the left and a larger visualization of the vehicle or home-energy system on the right.
Previously, iPad users could install the iPhone version, but it lacked a dedicated tablet layout. The new design uses the extra screen space better, letting users view more information without repeatedly switching between menus.
Vehicle owners can access sections such as Controls, Climate, Location, Charging, Security, Drivers, and Safety Score. The interface also includes a more prominent Customize Controls button and a Show psi option to check tire pressure.
Charging submenus remain visible alongside their details, making it easier to navigate the app while managing vehicle settings.

The redesign also covers Tesla’s home-energy products. The Home Status screen displays power flows between solar panels, a Powerwall battery, the house, the electricity grid, and a connected vehicle.
The charging statistics screen features larger maps and charts, helping users review their charging history and related information more clearly. The wider interface makes these details easier to read rather than simply enlarging existing phone screens.
Availability of individual features still depends on the connected Tesla products.
The redesigned app supports Apple’s iPhone Duo, which is scheduled to launch on October 23, along with Android tablets and foldable devices.
On the iPhone Duo, the expanded interface appears on the inner display, while the outer screen retains the familiar phone layout. This allows the app to adapt to different screen sizes.
The US App Store lists Tesla version 4.62.0 as a free download requiring iPadOS 17.0 or later on iPads. However, its release notes mention only minor fixes and improvements and don’t detail the redesign.
Guichet said the rollout could take an extra week or two as the team checks that the interface works correctly across supported screens. He also said the team plans further refinements for future releases.
