Sony has launched a major marketing campaign for Grand Theft Auto VI as pre-orders for the blockbuster game officially go live on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. The console maker is positioning the PS5 as the preferred platform for Rockstar Games’ biggest release, highlighting its hardware capabilities ahead of the game’s November launch.
As pre-orders opened on digital storefronts, Sony rolled out promotional material that said GTA 6 will ‘play best’ on the PlayStation 5. The campaign is being featured across the PlayStation Store, social media channels, and marketing assets, underscoring Sony’s long-standing partnership with Rockstar Games.
The marketing push follows Rockstar’s confirmation that GTA 6 pre-orders would begin on June 25, marking the start of a broader promotional cycle for one of the most anticipated games in recent years.
Sony’s aggressive push is showing up while PlayStation and Xbox are basically going head-to-head for players before GTA 6 finally drops. Even though the game is meant to land on both current-gen consoles, Sony seems to be aiming for a stronger reinforcement of the PlayStation ecosystem, tying the whole thing more closely to the PS5 experience.
Sony has confirmed that GTA 6 will support the PS5 Pro. However, the company has not revealed any specific performance enhancements or graphical improvements for the game yet.

Rockstar Games says that GTA VI is set to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. Lately, the company has also announced the release date and the official cover image, and has started pre-orders on a few digital platforms.
Since pre-orders are already live and Sony is kicking off their promotional pushes, the whole countdown for one of the most-awaited games has started, kind of. Some industry insiders even expect GTA VI to come out ahead among console games well before the official release, you know, like leading the pack.
