Samsung Galaxy S25 FE is expected to be one of the slimmest models in the lineup, but this design comes with a price. According to new leaks, Samsung’s Galaxy S25 Fan Edition has achieved the ultra-slim design by compromising its battery capacity.
Leaked images and specs suggest that the upcoming model can rival even the premium flagship models in terms of aesthetics. However, for power users, it’s going to be a major concern for the significantly smaller battery capacity.
Since the announcement of the Galaxy S25 FE, leaks suggest that this model may have some disappointing features compared to last year's version. Information from reliable sources indicates that the upcoming Samsung model will have a sleek 7.4 mm aluminum body and weigh approximately 190 g. It represents a significant reduction from the Galaxy S24 FE, which weighed 213 g and had a body thickness of 8 mm.
Reportedly, the expected design goes hand-in-hand with a 6.7-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, thin bezels, and updated Gorilla Glass Victus to provide a more refined and comfortable experience. On the surface, the choice allows Samsung to give hard competition to iPhone 17 Air, set to debut with a 5.5 mm slim design. However, the backlash has started with battery capacity.
Users prioritize battery performance in smartphones above all else. Recent leaks suggest that Samsung may reduce the battery size to just 4,500 mAh, which is a decrease of 200 mAh compared to its predecessor. The reduction is expected to have a significant impact on the phone's overall performance. However, charging speeds are projected to remain competitive at around 45W, aligning with higher-end Galaxy models.

A thinner and lighter handset is indeed appealing, but it's coming at one of the most vital expenses. The cut-off capacity probably doesn’t seem very crucial, apparently. Still, when it comes to usage, this upcoming Samsung device will provide users with a shorter screen time, faster battery drain under heavy tasks, and other issues during gaming, content creation, or video editing. Precisely, the battery cut will make the device unusable for a full-day schedule.
Recent surveys have shown that nearly 89% of people prefer better battery life over a sleek design. The shift suggests that Samsung is trying to focus on design aesthetics, but the trouble is, it’s coming at the cost of longevity. A slimmer design is appealing, but without proper battery life, not all users are willing to pay for it.
Samsung’s decision to trim battery capacity to achieve the desired slim design has brought the Galaxy S25 FE to a crossroads. The improved charging speed is a welcome upgrade, but if the battery life is too short, users may start to avoid investing in the upcoming Galaxy model, especially those who need their phone for an entire day's schedule.
Compared to Apple’s iPhone 17 Air’s rumored 2,900 mAh battery, Samsung’s 4,500 mAh battery is still much better, but it’s a step back within Samsung’s own ecosystem. Furthermore, with this battery life, the upcoming smartphone will be vulnerable against rivals like Xiaomi and OnePlus, who are pushing their boundaries constantly without any compromise. With such a serious drawback, the Galaxy S25 FE’s aesthetic may struggle to attract user attention.
