Samsung is reportedly preparing to launch its first AI-powered smart glasses in selected markets in December 2026. The wearable, expected to be called Intelligent Eyewear, could initially reach customers in South Korea and the United States, while other regions may have to wait for a wider rollout.

According to reports, Samsung is targeting a mid-December launch. Europe and China are reportedly excluded from the first phase as the company plans to assess customer demand and feedback before expanding availability. Samsung has not officially confirmed the December launch date or the initial market list.

Google Gemini and Android XR at the Core

The upcoming smart glasses will run on Google's Android XR platform and use the Gemini AI assistant. Samsung has designed the device to offer hands-free assistance through voice commands and built-in cameras.

Expected features include real-time language translation, voice-guided navigation, and smart note-taking. Users may also be able to capture information from their surroundings and receive AI-generated responses based on visual context.

The glasses run on Qualcomm's Snapdragon AR1 Gen 1 chipset, designed for lightweight augmented-reality and smart eyewear devices.

Up to Nine Hours of Battery Life

Battery performance could be a key selling point. Samsung claims the smart glasses can deliver up to nine hours of use on a single charge. Their charging case is also expected to provide up to seven additional full charges, reducing the need to access a power outlet frequently.

Samsung has partnered with eyewear brands Gentle Monster and Warby Parker to develop the frames. The collaboration aims to combine everyday eyewear designs with smart features, without making the product look like a conventional tech gadget.

Samsung Takes on Meta in Smart Glasses Market

The launch will place Samsung in direct competition with Meta, which has gained traction in the smart glasses market through its Ray-Ban collaboration. Samsung is expected to use Google's AI technology, Android XR, and integration with Galaxy devices to attract customers. However, pricing remains undisclosed, and the company has yet to announce the exact sales date.

A limited December launch would allow Samsung to test demand before taking the product to more markets. Its success will depend on how useful customers find its AI features in everyday situations.
