Planning to buy a PS5 Slim? You may want to do it soon. A news report says Sony could increase the price of both PS5 Slim models in India. The company has not yet confirmed the change, but retailers are said to have received information about the revised prices.
If the report is accurate, the PS5 Slim Digital Edition will go from Rs. 44,990 to Rs. 49,990. The PS5 Slim Disc Edition could also become costlier, with its price moving from Rs. 54,990 to Rs. 59,990. This means buyers may have to spend an extra Rs. 5,000, no matter which version they choose.
Sony has raised PlayStation prices in several countries before, so the move would not be entirely surprising. The company has not shared a reason for the reported increase in India, but there are a few possible explanations.
One reason could be that since the PS5 is imported, changes in currency exchange rates can make each console more expensive to bring into the country. Import duties and shipping costs can also push prices higher.

Inflation may be another factor. The cost of manufacturing and shipping electronic products has increased in recent years. Companies often adjust prices when these costs continue to rise.
Sony's business strategy could also be part of the picture. The PS5 is still selling well, even years after its launch. Strong demand gives the company more room to increase prices without significantly affecting sales. With no new PlayStation model expected in the near future, Sony may be trying to maintain steady profits while demand remains strong.
