Sony has brought a great deal for PlayStation users. The company is offering PS5 owners up to USD 400 for their old consoles. The offer gives gamers a chance to earn money from a system they no longer use. However, there’s a catch. Players who want to get the highest amount must send their console in excellent condition, along with two controllers intact.

This offer is reportedly sent to PS users on the app. This offer was spotted by a RestEra user who brought this to light. The notification tells users that they can trade in their console to Sony and have money sent directly to their bank account. Generally, these kinds of offers are common from third-party platforms like GameStop, but console makers never reach out to gamers with such offers. Thus, it’s surprising for PS users as well.

Now that Sony has placed the offer, there can be two probable reasons. First, the company is probably preparing for a shortage of hardware, and secondly, it is interested in pre-owned stock that it can sell at a much lower price than a new console model.

No matter the reason, it is a great chance for PlayStation users to sell the console and get a significant amount back. The final price depends on the console model, storage, physical condition, and the accessories included. Notably, the offer is currently limited to US gamers.

Could Trade-Ins Help Gamers Move to the PS5 Pro and PS6?

The offer could also make it easier for players to upgrade their consoles. Those planning to buy a PS5 Pro may use the money from their old PS5 to lower the cost. At the same time, refurbished consoles could reach buyers who do not want to spend money on a new system.

The same idea could help Sony when it launches the PS6 in the future. There is no confirmed release date yet, but the next console could push many players to upgrade. Sony's USD 400 offer sounds attractive, but gamers should check the final price before sending their consoles.
