Pokémon UNITE is almost at the end of its lifetime. The Pokémon Company has confirmed that the game will shut down on March 23, 2027, at 00:00 UTC. Once the servers are closed, the game will become inaccessible on both Nintendo Switch and mobile devices.
The developer has thanked players for their support since the game first launched in July 2021. The game first launched on Switch in July 2021 and arrived on phones two months later. However, the company hasn’t shared a clear reason for ending the service.
As long as the game is live, players can still enjoy it, though there are some changes already implemented. For example, sales of Aeos Gems, the game's paid currency, have stopped. Gamers can spend the existing in-game currencies, but the game won’t allow them to acquire them further.
Additionally, new UNITE Club memberships and automatic renewals have also ended. Players who have active memberships can use their benefits until the current period ends. However, the scheduled major update and events will arrive as announced.
A special event and update will begin on November 12, 2026. It will give players a chance to earn items such as Unite Licenses and Holowear. The Aeos Crown 2027 Tokyo tournament will also go ahead, with qualifiers starting on December 5, 2026.
Even the game will have a new Library feature once the November update comes. It will let players view selected game records and content after the servers close. Players must download the required Library data before the shutdown to keep access to these items. However, the feature will not let them play matches once the game goes offline.

When a live-service game loses its servers, its online features stop working. So, after March 23, 2027, Pokémon UNITE players will no longer be able to log in or join battles. Even if they have the game installed, it won’t help them anyway. Players who spent money on outfits or other items will also lose access to them in regular gameplay.
The Library will offer only limited access to selected content. It will not replace the full game, and players should not expect to keep battling or use every item they earned.
