Oracle initiated another round of layoffs in India. The newest cuts began on Monday, September 14, and reportedly, this time, the most affected employees are mid-to-senior-level staff in web development and maintenance. According to reports,  around 1,000 to 1,500 people are bidding goodbye this time. The figure is not verified or confirmed. The impact on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure teams in India is also still unclear. Some reports mentioned that senior employees at Oracle Financial Services Software were also impacted in the global restructuring of the workforce.

The job cuts are part of the company’s growing focus on artificial intelligence, cloud services and data centers. Starting in early 2026, the company carried out multiple rounds of layoffs to fund the infrastructure needed to meet increasing demand for AI. Oracle also reduced its global workforce by about 21,000 employees in the financial year that ended in May.

The latest cuts point to a change in where Oracle is putting its money and people. Web development and product engineering teams appear to be facing more pressure. At the same time, Oracle continues to invest heavily in cloud and AI infrastructure.

At this point, there’s no official confirmation of the layoff or the number of employees being laid off. Oracle did not confirm the reported number of affected employees or say anything regarding the layoff.

Oracle’s AI Push Could Reshape its Workforce

Oracle’s AI push came with a huge rise in spending. Its capital expenditure reached USD 55.7 billion in fiscal 2026, with data centers making up a major part of the spending. The company is also raising funds to support its AI and cloud plans.

The latest layoffs show how quickly Oracle’s business priorities are changing. As the company builds more data centers and expands its cloud business, the demand for different skills is also growing.
