The AI research company OpenAI introduced GPT-4.5 dubbed "Orion," the largest and most powerful computing model to date. GPT-4.5 provides additional features to ChatGPT Pro subscribers and select API developers through improvements in emotional processing and decreased hallucinatory behavior. OpenAI continues evaluating the model's capabilities because it seeks feedback about performance and limitations from users while conducting ongoing testing.

Despite its recent updates, GPT-4.5 does not qualify as the advanced stage of AI models. The initial white paper from OpenAI about the new release contained a declaration that stated GPT-4.5 was not a frontier model before the statement was eliminated. Although GPT-4.5 shows improvement over older versions, it does not surpass the models developed by DeepSeek in China or competitors from Anthropic.

Performance Improvements and Cost Considerations

GPT-4o provides developers a lower-priced option since it costs $2.50 per million input tokens and $10 per million output tokens. The company evaluates GPT-4.5 operational costs and considers their removal from the future API plans.
