One Piece Chapter 1176 sheds light on Imu’s Domi Reversi curse, an ability that turns powerful fighters into demonic soldiers under Imu’s command. Those affected lose control of their bodies and follow orders without question.
The curse recently struck Dorry and Brogy, the legendary giants of Elbaf. Once symbols of pride and strength, the two warriors were forced to turn against their own people. Under Imu’s orders, they were pushed toward a grim task, killing Elder Jarul, one of Elbaf’s most respected figures.
Despite being under the curse, Dorry and Brogy briefly regain their senses. Realising what they are about to do, the giants refuse to carry out Imu’s command. Rather than stain their legacy by killing Jarul, they choose a warrior’s end. The two giants decide to behead each other, choosing death over submission.
The act leads to an unexpected result. The chapter suggests that killing the cursed warrior breaks the Domi Reversi spell. Once Dorry and Brogy die, the demonic influence disappears, and the giants return to their normal selves. Freed from the curse, they rejoin the fight against Imu’s forces alongside Zoro, Stansen, and Hajrudin.
The reveal also hints at a possible link to earlier events in the story. The battle involving Rocks D. Xebec, where Gol D. Roger and Monkey D. Garp fought together, may have been similar.

The twist has sparked debate among fans. Some readers feel the solution appears too simple for a power that is portrayed as nearly unstoppable. Others believe the story may still reveal hidden conditions behind the curse. With the Elbaf arc escalating, the focus now shifts to how the giants and the Straw Hats will deal with the rest of Imu’s demonic army.
