Vivo is expected to launch the X500 model later this year in China (speculatively in September 2026), and now a new leak has given an early look at what the company may be planning. Information shared by tipsters on Weibo suggests that Vivo is working on a stronger camera system instead of making only minor yearly changes. Although the company has not confirmed the details, the reports have already created excitement among smartphone fans.

The biggest upgrade, according to the leak, is the new periscope telephoto camera with improved long-range zoom. The Weibo report has mentioned that the upcoming Vivo device will probably feature a 50MP Sony primary with a 1/1.28-inch sensor, a 50MP ultrawide, and a 64MP Sony periscope telephoto with a 1/2-inch sensor. It further mentioned that the device will have improvements in image processing and low-light photography.

The reported changes look different from the previous generation models. Vivo seems to be improving the overall camera experience, rather than adding another sensor. The company is adding better zoom, stronger portrait photos, and faster image processing.

In the long term, these features will help users capture good pictures without making many manual changes. If the leaks are accurate, X500 will offer noticeable improvements rather than small updates.

The leaked hardware could also increase competition in the premium smartphone market. Brands like Samsung, Apple, Xiaomi, and Oppo are already putting more attention on mobile photography. Vivo appears to be following the same path. Camera quality has become one of the biggest reasons people choose a flagship phone.

At this point, these details remain unofficial. Vivo has yet to announce the X500 launch date or confirm its features. Still, the latest leaks suggest the company is aiming for more than a routine upgrade. If the final phone matches these early leaks, Vivo could have another strong flagship that stands out mainly for its camera performance.
