Netflix has secured broadcasting rights for the 2030 FIFA World Cup in Spain and Andorra, covering all 104 matches. Announced on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, the deal expands Netflix’s live sports strategy across Europe and gives subscribers tournament access. The agreement also preserves free viewing options for Spanish audiences through a national broadcaster.

The deal marks Netflix’s first broadcast of a major men’s international football tournament in Spain. The company will show every match, while one match per matchday will remain available free through a Spanish free-to-air broadcaster. Netflix has not disclosed the financial terms or confirmed the broadcaster’s identity.

Netflix Expands its World Cup Coverage

The 2030 tournament will take place across Spain, Portugal and Morocco, marking 100 years since the first World Cup. Netflix’s agreement places the streaming platform at the center of coverage in two European markets. However, viewers seeking complete tournament access may need a Netflix subscription.

The company plans to build coverage around the matches rather than limit its offering to live football. Its programming will include pre-match analysis, halftime coverage, post-match discussion, and daily tournament roundups. Netflix also plans lead-up programming with a Spanish perspective for local audiences.

Free Broadcasts Will Remain Available in Spain

The agreement includes a free-to-air arrangement designed to preserve access for viewers without Netflix subscriptions. One match each matchday will air free in Spain through a national broadcaster. Reports also indicate the free package will include Spain’s matches, both semifinals and the final.

The arrangement could help Netflix reach wider audiences while retaining a subscription-based option for full tournament coverage. The precise viewing arrangements in Andorra have not yet been detailed publicly.

Netflix Builds its Football Portfolio

Netflix already holds rights to the 2027 Women’s World Cup in Brazil and the 2031 tournament in the United States and Canada. Securing the 2030 men’s tournament strengthens its position in live sports and major international football.

The deal also signals a shift beyond sports documentaries and selected live events toward full tournament broadcasting. Its success will depend on audience demand, coverage quality, and how viewers respond to subscription access.

The announcement also includes Netflix Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria’s statement: “Few events unite people like the World Cup.” She said the company aims to bring every match to fans across Spain and Andorra.
