Microsoft reported record revenue of USD 92.3 billion for the quarter ending September 30, 2026. The company announced its results on Wednesday, marking its tenth consecutive quarter of record revenue. Revenue grew 19% compared with the same period last year, while net income rose 32% to USD 36.6 billion.
Strong demand for cloud services and artificial intelligence helped Microsoft achieve these results. Microsoft Cloud generated USD 63.9 billion in revenue, up 30% from last year. Azure also performed well, bringing in USD 33.2 billion as its revenue grew 48%.
Microsoft Cloud played a major role in the company’s latest financial results. However, not all its cloud revenue came from artificial intelligence. Microsoft 365 contributed nearly USD 28 billion, while Azure supported businesses running software and AI services.
Microsoft also reported USD 10 billion in revenue from OpenAI, which continues to use Microsoft’s cloud services. Meanwhile, the company’s future revenue commitments increased 73% to USD 677 billion. These commitments represent money Microsoft expects to earn from existing customer contracts.
Growing demand for AI services has encouraged Microsoft to expand its computing infrastructure. The company needs more data centers and powerful systems to support businesses using AI tools. This expansion could help Microsoft meet future demand, but it also requires heavy spending.
Microsoft allocated a record USD 45.2 billion to capital investments for the most recent quarter. Much of that spending went toward expanding data center capacity and acquiring hardware to run Microsoft's AI and cloud services. The company must generate reliable revenue and profits to justify these investments.
Microsoft predicts USD 96 billion to USD 97.1 billion in revenue for this current quarter, signaling continued company growth.
However, not every business performed well. Microsoft’s Devices and Consumer segment generated USD 15.5 billion, down 3% from last year. Revenue from Windows OEM and devices fell 22%, showing weaker performance in that area.
Microsoft’s latest results highlight the growing importance of cloud computing and AI. Future success will depend on customer demand and whether its large investments deliver lasting returns.
