Mecka AI raised USD 60 million in Series B funding led by Sequoia Capital, as investors increase their bets on infrastructure needed to train and deploy robots. The round brings the Toronto-based startup’s latest capital as the robotics industry races to solve one of its biggest challenges: access to high-quality real-world data. DoorDash CEO Tony Xu, former ServiceNow and Snowflake CEO Frank Slootman, and former Tesla Optimus chief Milan Kovac were individual investors.

Mecka Targets Robotics’ Data Gap

Founded in 2024, Mecka collects and analyses human motion data to train humanoids and other robots. New investors in the round include:

  • Nvidia

  • Microsoft’s venture fund M12

  • Qualcomm Ventures

  • Samsung

Existing backers Kindred Ventures, Framework Ventures and Neo also participated. The startup pays people to record themselves performing physical tasks, including preparing food and repairing vehicles. Participants use smartphones and body sensors to capture movement and interactions.

The company processes this information into training-ready data. Its technology covers motion tracking, 3D reconstruction and sensor alignment. Mecka further explained that it achieved sub-centimetre hand-pose accuracy on real-world data collected outside controlled environments.

Physical AI Needs Real-World Experience

The funding highlights a major difference between digital AI and robotics. Large language models can learn from vast amounts of online text. Sequoia said “Mecka is building a data and deployment layer for physical AI. The firm believes robotics will require infrastructure spanning research, specialised hardware, global data collection, software and deployment.”

Mecka said it surpassed USD 100 million in run-rate revenue in June 2026 and expects to reach a USD 300 million run rate by the end of the year. The company says it already supplies several leading robotics labs and multiple major technology companies. The latest funding reflects growing investor interest in the infrastructure supporting physical AI.
