Apple has officially discontinued the MacBook Air M2 and MacBook Air M3 to pave the way for the newly released MacBook Air M4 as its new entry-level laptop. The Apple MacBook Air powered by the M4 is now the cheapest model in Apple's lineup, available in both online and retail stores.

Older MacBook Air variants with M1, M2, and M3 chips are still present on platforms such as Amazon, Flipkart, and other third-party stores. However, Apple has dropped them from its official retail stores, marking a complete shift to its new processor technology.

Apple’s CEO Tim Cook posted a short clip of the new MacBook Air M4 on X (formerly known as ‘Twitter’), showcasing the phone’s new design:

MacBook Air M4: Price and Availability

MacBook Air M4 is currently up for pre-order and will hit stores officially on March 12, 2025. The entry-level 13-inch model is equipped with 16GB RAM and 256GB storage, and the price is set at ₹99,900. Apple, however, is providing a ₹10,000 discount on certain bank cards, reducing the price to ₹89,900. Students can get an additional discount of ₹10,000.

For users looking for additional storage and performance, Apple offers the following variants:

512GB storage – ₹1,19,900

24GB RAM + 512GB storage – ₹1,39,900

15-inch MacBook Air M4 (10-core GPU) – ₹1,24,900

M4 Chip's Enhanced Performance

The MacBook Air M4 is the most powerful MacBook Air yet. The 13-inch base model has an 8-core GPU, and the 15-inch model has a 10-core GPU for marginally better graphics performance. Both models are still passively cooled, so they run quietly but may suffer from performance throttling under heavy loads.

Where to Buy the MacBook Air M4?

Eager consumers may pre-order MacBook Air M4 through the Apple Store or licensed third-party retailers.

Apple’s bold decision to scrap its older models for a new one shows the company’s commitment towards innovation and premium user experience.
