

Karnataka has approved a new AI Centre of Excellence in Electronics City, Bengaluru. This decision shows the state’s strong push for new technology and research.
The government will set up the centre at the Institute of Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology in Electronics City, Phase 1. The project will cost Rs. 20 crore. Officials have set a timeline of four years to complete the construction.
The centre will focus on AI biotechnology. It will bring together artificial intelligence and biology research. The Institute of Bioinformatics and Applied Biotechnology and the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platforms will work together on this project. Their work will support research in healthcare, drug discovery, and genomics.
This step will make Bengaluru Electronics City more important in the tech world. The area already has many IT companies and startups. The new centre will add strong research support in AI and biotechnology.
Minister Priyank Kharge said the state wants to stay ahead in new technologies. He said the focus is now on building strong systems for the future. The centre will help improve research and speed up innovation.
The AI Centre of Excellence, Karnataka, will help startups and researchers. It will offer labs, tools, and expert support. This will help startups in the Karnataka startup ecosystem grow faster and build better products.
The state government is also working on other projects to support technology. Different departments are investing in deep tech areas. The aim is to make Karnataka a top place for innovation and research.
The cabinet has also taken another decision. It has approved the transfer of a 51% stake in the Karnataka Technology and Innovation Museum Foundation to a private partner. The museum will be built in Baiyappanahalli. The total cost of this project is Rs. 100 crore. The government and the private partner will share the cost.
This plan shows that the state wants to grow both research and public awareness in science and technology. The AI center will help foster deep tech innovations and also present numerous opportunities for entrepreneurs and researchers. The state of Karnataka will also be able to maintain its lead in artificial intelligence and biotechnology.
