Apple is rolling out its first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo, across India and several global markets. However, the launch differs from earlier iPhone releases since Indian stores have not seen long queues of buyers. The reason is simple. Apple did not allow walk-in purchases in India. Customers can only collect devices they have already pre-ordered from Apple Stores.
Customers can look for walk-in stock at Apple Stores in the United States, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Mexico, Germany, Macao, the Netherlands, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Türkiye and the United Kingdom.
Apple also made walk-in inventory available at most of its stores in Italy. Buyers in these markets can visit a store and purchase the device directly, subject to availability. India is not included in Apple’s list of markets offering walk-in purchases. Buyers in the country must place a pre-order and wait for delivery or store pickup. The wait may prove longer than expected. Several early buyers have received estimated delivery dates in January 2027, which suggests strong demand or constrained supply.
The iPhone Duo is Apple’s most expensive iPhone so far. The 256GB model starts at Rs 2,99,900, while the 512GB variant costs Rs 3,24,900. Apple prices the 1TB version at Rs 3,74,900. The top-end 2TB model carries a price tag of Rs 4,49,900. The tech giant offers the foldable iPhone in two colors: Star White and Night Sky.
The coming weeks will show whether Apple’s first foldable iPhone sustains demand at its premium price. Limited availability and long delivery timelines could shape buyer sentiment in India. Those who have not booked the iPhone Duo may therefore have to wait for months before Apple opens fresh inventory or improves delivery timelines.
