Apple has started to roll out iOS 18.3, bringing big advances for Apple Intelligence and several bug fixes and security improvements. This update follows iOS 18.2, which rolled out in December 2024 and delivers key Apple Intelligence features like Image Playground, Visual Intelligence and Gemoji ChatGPT.
In a latest update, iOS 18.3, Apple has updated Visual Intelligence, AI-driven summaries, and stability of systems. Moreover, it has added new Black Unity wallpapers in remembrance of Black History Month. One notable enhancement is that Apple Intelligence is enabled by default, requiring users to manually turn if they want to.
Apple has improved Visual Intelligence in iOS, making it more intuitive and efficient for users. iOS 18.3 now allows users to add an event to their calendar directly from a poster or flyer without having to manually input the data. This enhancement streamlines scheduling, thus allowing productivity to increase overall.
As part of its commitment to celebrating Black History Month, Apple brings six new Black Unity wallpapers. Apple stated that the wallpapers are “Inspired by the rhythm of humanity”, and incorporate black, green and red colours. All users updating to iOS 18.3 gain access to these wallpapers.
On the News app side, specifically, Apple has tweaked AI-powered notification summaries. AI summaries will no longer work for the News app and users will now see a disclaimer that reads: “Summaries may contain errors.” In that case, while users can’t currently develop summaries themselves, they can still opt to receive AI-powered summaries for News and Entertainment categories.
Furthermore, the lock screen notifications powered by Apple Intelligence will now appear in italicized text for easier differentiation. Apple has implemented turning off summaries based on the use of artificial intelligence in some applications. Users should be able to disable summaries by swiping left on a notification and choosing the ” Turn off summaries’ option on the “Options” menu.
Apart from the improvements made to the Apple Intelligence, iOS 18.3 offers fixes to several bugs and system concerns. Notable fixes include:
Fixing an issue where users couldn't generate a personalized Gemooji unless they chose a different person.
Fixing a bug that caused the disappearance of the keyboard when initiating a typed Siri request.
With iOS 18.3, Apple further enhances the app suite powered by artificial intelligence, as well as the usability, security and principally the user’s control. The update is already available for download on compatible iPhone models.
