A recent leak of GTA 6 gameplay has sparked renewed discussions within the gaming community. This comes as fans eagerly await the release of the third official trailer for the highly anticipated game. While the leak surfaced on social media, it provides a sneak peek of new mechanics and content that could significantly alter player expectations leading up to the 2026 launch.
The latest leaked footage features one of GTA VI’s main protagonists, Jason, performing a crawling or prone movement previously unseen in the Grand Theft Auto series. While stealth elements have appeared in earlier games, crawling across the ground is a new mechanic for the franchise. The clip, originally posted by the ‘GTA 6 Countdown’ Twitter account, shows Jason using this movement in what appears to be an early development build.
Social media users soon discussed the feature's potential. Some fans viewed the prone movement as a valuable addition that could enhance stealth missions and player choice, while others suggested that it may simply be an animation used in cutscenes and not in gameplay. “Why would they cut this? It would have added so much to stealth gameplay,” commented one user, while another speculated the sequence was not intended for player control.
Rockstar Games has not made an official statement on the leaked footage. Nevertheless, the company's leak history, in particular, before trailer releases, has made fans anxious to see more official announcements of new features. Released in December 2023 and May 2025, the former two official trailers focused on the reappearance of Vice City and suggested a large, vibrant world packed with activities.
In addition to the gameplay leak, recent rumours are once again indicating that GTA 6 may be even bigger than anticipated. It is also reported that the game will feature over 700 enterable stores, which is a record in the franchise. The other features that have been rumoured are operational shopping malls and the introduction of male strippers in in-game clubs, which shows the attention that Rockstar is giving to variety and realism.
Additional speculation surrounds the names and backgrounds of the main characters, with leaks suggesting the protagonists are Jason Duvall and Lucia Caminos. Some rumors also suggest the return of Liberty City, in addition to Vice City, although Rockstar has not confirmed these details.
With Grand Theft Auto 6 set for release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S on May 26, 2026, fans are eagerly analyzing Rockstar’s previous marketing patterns to predict when the next trailer will drop. Some community theories suggest a reveal around January 2026, but others believe Rockstar could announce new delays or change tactics entirely.
