Google may soon let Pixel phones take calls for you when you ride public transport. A new update could turn on the Take a Message feature automatically whenever Transit mode is toggled on. This allows you to handle calls without talking in front of other riders.
Android Authority found signs of the change in the Google Phone app, version 245.0.1006864670-publicbeta-pixel2026. The code has a new part called ‘BeeslyTransitModeService.’ Beesly is the internal name Google uses for Take a Message.
Transit mode is designed to help people during everyday commutes. It works on Pixel 7 and newer phones. With one tap, you can change alerts, Bluetooth, and sound settings, and take a message and answer calls you miss or turn down. It shows what the caller says as live text on your screen. If the call is important, you can tap Answer and join in.
Currently, you have to turn on Take a Message yourself. The new feature will do it for you once transit mode is on.

The report also points to a smaller fix. The phone requires you to open another screen to switch between swiping and tapping to answer a call. Google may move that choice right onto the main settings screen, saving you a few taps.
The tech giant has not shared a release date for either change. Both were found in app code, and features seen this way do not always launch. Plans can shift, and Google may drop them.
If the transit mode feature does arrive, it could be a handy upgrade for daily commuters, giving them a simple way to stay in touch while keeping their calls private.
