Anthropic’s popular AI chatbot, Claude, experienced a major outage, leaving thousands of users unable to use the platform. According to Downdetector, the outage occurred at 12.05 AM EST. Subsequently, reports started coming in rapidly. As per media sources, over 1,200 complaints have been recorded, which indicates a massive disruption.
84% of the users reported that they were not able to use Claude Chat. Another 11% mentioned the problem affected Claude Code, the company’s AI-assisted coding tool. The remaining 5% noted difficulties loading or accessing the Claude website altogether.
The outage provoked an onslaught of reactions on social platform X, formerly known as Twitter, with frustrated users sharing humor and irritation. “Claude’s down, so I guess I can go to bed at 10 for the first time in 8 months,” joked one user.
Another user reacted in anger, “#claude is down again. Hundreds of reports on the net. #anthropic on the status website: everything okay. I can’t stand it any longer. Trouble every day. Literally every day.”
The spike in online discussions comes as the chatbot gains popularity among professionals, students, and creators who rely on it for everyday work.

Anthropic has not made any public comment about the outage. It usually communicates service interruptions or maintenance via a status page. At the time of writing, the artificial intelligence company is not showing any alerts, which means that users are still unaware of the reason behind the outage.
There is no official confirmation of when the service will resume or how long the recovery will take. Users can only wait. The outage has increased the frustration of the users.
Such unannounced interruptions, amid the increasing dependence on AI support, reveal the weak points of the digital tools that are, gradually, becoming necessary and even indispensable. Users are now waiting for clarification from Anthropic and a return to usual service.
