Google wants Gemini to do more than answer simple questions. On October 28, 2026, the company announced its Connected Apps Platform and mentioned it as a “unified way for more app developers to bring their capabilities directly into Gemini and Search.” Precisely, the platform will allow developers a simpler way to connect their apps with Gemini and Google Search.
The main goal of the platform is to help people use more services through Google’s AI tools, without switching between different apps. Google says more than 50 Connected Apps are now available across Gemini and Search.
The platform also changes how developers set up these links. They can connect their services using a cloud-hosted MCP server or Android's AppFunctions tools. They can then register, test, and submit their apps through the Google Connected Console.
Google already works with apps such as Adobe, Experian, Localiza and Peloton through Gemini. These services help users with tasks related to creative work, travel, fitness, and more. Google plans to bring these apps to Search in the coming weeks. The meditation app Calm is also set to join both services.

The new Google Connected Console will let developers check app usage, response times, and errors. Additionally, they can manage how their promoted brand will appear on Google’s services. This will give them a clear way to reach users through Gemini and Search.
From a user point of view, more apps linked to Google Gemini will make lots of work easier. However, the value still depends on how many apps are joining the platform and how well they work. The rollout will be done in phases. First, selected developers from the US will get access. Wider access is expected over time. The next test will be whether these new links work smoothly and offer real value.
