Games often celebrate anniversaries with new limited-time events and updates. However, NetEase Games has taken an innovative approach for its massively successful third-person shooter, Marvel Rivals. As per the latest announcement, the developer is celebrating the first anniversary of Marvel Rivals' Closed Alpha Test.
To celebrate this, the game is about to get its brand-new Galacta’s Gift event, starting May 15, 2025. It’s a limited-time event that will offer players a chance to collect some exclusive in-game rewards. Aside from that, this event is bringing back the Season 0 Battle Pass.
A game celebrating its Closed Alpha is unique, but this makes sense. Marvel Rivals’ Closed Alpha revealed the gameplay to the global audience for the first time. It’s the first time players dived into the in-game world. Even though it sounds strange, NetEase Games is celebrating this anniversary with loads of rewards.
Starting on May 15, 2025, this event will enable players to earn rewards simply by participating in matches. Reportedly, the rewards will range from Nameplates, Sprays, Chrono Shield Cards, to Costume Coins. Notably, the Costume Coins are the most precious ones that players can exchange for debut costumes of any of the 33 heroes featured in Season 0.
The Marvel Rivals team emphasizes that all these event rewards will be accessible through regular gameplay. So, there won’t be something additional to do, and everyone can participate in the event to get rewards. The aim of this event is not only to celebrate the Closed Alpha Test anniversary but also to invite newcomers to experience the content that set the game to reach the peak of popularity.
The exact end date of this event hasn’t yet been officially stated. However, the availability of the Season 0 Battle Pass hints at a two-week run time.
At a time when players are curiously waiting for the mid-season update for Marvel Rivals Season 2, NetEase Games granted one wish of fans. For a while, players have been demanding the return of the Season 0 Battle Pass, and the Galacta’s Gift event is reintroducing it. The official post reveals that this Battle Pass will be available from May 15 to May 29, 2025.
Priced at 590 Lattice, the Season 0 Battle Pass offers veteran players a second chance and newcomers an unexpected opportunity to acquire cosmetic items that they have missed. Once purchased, the Battle Pass won’t expire, and players can keep unlocking the Battle Pass content at their own pace.
The reintroduction of the Season 0 Battle Pass is part of NetEase Games' broader strategy to make previous content accessible to players who may have missed it initially. The developers have indicated that future returns of past battle passes may occur, potentially at higher prices and after a span of at least two seasons.
