Epic Games has officially announced the highly anticipated ‘Death Star Sabotage’ live event for Fortnite. The event will climax with the ongoing Star Wars-themed ‘Galactic Battle’ season. Meanwhile, some players will get to hit the Empire this past Saturday, the 7th of June, 2025, when the main event initiates at 2 PM ET (11 AM PT / 12 PM IST).

Players Join the Rebellion to Sabotage the Death Star

This in-game’ grand spectacle will serve as a turning point in the course of the evolving Fortnite narrative, wherein Palpatine and his gargantuan Death Star readied a superlaser for Battle Royale Island annihilation, but a faint ray of hope lights the way for players: join the Rebel Alliance and compete in a crucial mission to sabotage the iconic Imperial superweapon.

Epic Games advises early Fortnite players to access the ‘Death Star Sabotage’ event via a dedicated tile in the Discover tab at 12 PM ET. Early access will give ample time for players to gather their squads (up to four), plus some extra time flying around X-wings or Imperial TIE fighters to ramp up hype for the main show.

The ‘Death Star Sabotage’ promises to be an amalgamation of cinematic narratives and interactive gameplay. Per the leaks and teasers, will players be assisting the Rebel heroes, including Leia, to penetrate the Death Star and plant charges?

It presents a mission-oriented metaphor where players may have to go hands-on rather than observing a cutscene, though there may be some cinematic elements embedded in the whole idea. The aftermath of this event may even radically alter the island of Fortnite itself.

Pre-Event Conflicts Escalate with Star Destroyer Battles

Before the main event, players are already getting to experience the rising galactic conflict. Starting on May 29, the latest update, v35.20, has rift gates beginning to spawn in Battle Royale and Zero Build matches.

The first players who locate and enter these rifts are brought to a position on an overhead Star Destroyer they can temporarily operate, using its turbolasers to pulverize the map below. This bombardment from the Star Destroyer is a taste of the large-scale warfare that awaits players at the endgame.

Epic Games is lining up an enticing array of free rewards for attendees who partake in the finale of the ‘Galactic Battle.’ Players will automatically be awarded the ‘Assault on the Death Star’ loading screen and Captain Phasma's signature melee weapon, the ‘Quicksilver Baton Spear Pickaxe,’ by logging in anytime from 9 AM ET on June 3 until 9 AM ET on June 10.

Additionally, a new Twitch extension called "Galactic Battle" has arrived, which allows viewers to redeem a bundle of five Star Wars faction sprays by collecting items during selected creators' streams. Additionally, linking your Epic and Twitch accounts will reward you with the long-awaited Darth Jar Jar Emoticon.

‘Death Star Sabotage’ to End Star Wars Era

The ‘Death Star Sabotage’ is about wrapping up Fortnite's current Star Wars mini-season, which brought a plethora of Star Wars content: lightsabers, Force powers, and all iconic characters.

Post-event is expected to be marked by a short downtime for Fortnite, which leads into the next season, rumored to be superhero-themed and possibly featuring a DC Comics collaboration.

Fortnite significations all over the globe have broken records and delivered unforgettable experiences, and ‘Death Star Sabotage’ is being set up to become yet another glorious chapter in the continuing saga.

Gamers from all around the world are preparing to answer the call and take the ultimate stand against the Empire, with the very fate of the Fortnite island hanging in the balance.
